The art of life
In the digital overwhelm of our daily lives it can be easy to lose site of what we’re even living for.
One of the gifts from my adventuring around the world has been the many conversations that I’ve had with drivers, hotel staff, and the friends and colleagues that I met along the way. What I’ve discovered is that regardless of all the other things that people might value, the one thing that we all have in common as people is a desire to love and be loved.
But in the chaos of the world right now, so many of us are feeling disconnected. Too many of us are feeling overwhelmed from the negative cycles of news and social media. The world at large feels unsettled and exhausting.
This is your invitation to tune out of social media and tune into meaningful connections. Create spaces to reconnect with yourself, with nature, and with genuine moments that bring you a feeling of love, happiness and hopefully hella fun. For real— get off your phone and take a break from social media. Try that pottery class instead. Join that class at the gym. Volunteer for that campaign. Whatever it is that offers you moments of authentic connection.
You might even find inspiration from organizations like LOG OFF, a youth-led initiative aiming to bring awareness to the negative impacts of social media on mental health. And then there’s the Center for Humane Technology, a non-profit working to ensure that technologies like AI and social media serve the needs of humanity. Take comfort knowing that there’s good people out there, doing good work, to protect the quality of our lives.
And let’s all remember what it is that we’re living for- to love and be loved.
