Keep Living to Live
The secret to life is to just keep going …
I’ve spent the winter season in full-on hibernation mode, taking pause for quiet reflection so that I could listen to what the universe had to offer.
Along the way, I discovered the truth that we not only need to receive information from the universe through meditation, but we also should speak up to ask the universe for what we need through prayer.
Meditation = listening to what the universe has to share
Prayer = asking the universe for what you need
Just as we need the moon and the sun to make our days whole, our lives are craving both meditation and prayer.
There’s this misconception that prayer can only be available to you through deep religious rituals or practices, but prayer is available to every one at any time. The power of the spoken word is a beautiful thing, and I encourage you to give it a try. Maybe you begin simply by stating out loud, “I need to create more time for exercise.” or “I need to spend less time scrolling on social media.” Now I know this sounds like a simple thing to ‘pray’ about but that’s just it — prayer is for all of our needs and can help us give voice to our hopes, dreams, and needs so that we can bring them to life.
There are some pretty remarkable things that happen in our brains when we pray. We’re gathering more data everyday about the Neuroscience of Prayer and there are a variety of studies which show that “prayer helps us manage anxiety and depression, boosts the immune system, enhances our capacity to absorb and maintain information, makes us more open to new ideas and increases our pain tolerance.” How cool is that? So the next time you find yourself having a hard time settling into a state of meditation, then maybe what you’re really seeking is the transformative power of prayer.

I encourage you to take pause, say a prayer for what you need, and then keep going!
