Find your dharma
Here’s the thing ,,, you’re actually responsible ,,, yep, you ,,, for the currency of your life. How you respond to >> what flows >> into your life sits with you. We often can’t control our circumstances, or the experiences that we encounter, but we can control how we show up moment by moment.
And this is a big one. A big moment in time. A female astronaut just traveled to the dark side of the moon, traveling farther than any other human has ever traveled before, and she arrived back home safely to earth alongside her space crew members. Boom 🎤✨
But wait, there’s more. Take a look around at what’s happening in politics and civil rights. The most recent No Kings demonstrations drew 8 million Americans out of their homes and onto the streets, making it one of the largest single day protests in American history. Boom, boom 🎤 🎤
Then there’s the fresh-hype-energy coming out of New York with Jack Schlossberg directing the conversation towards relatable topics that are impacting people in their everyday lives. He’s also reviving the dialogue around diversity, and he’s bringing the conversation back to the efforts of the civil rights movement of the 1960s, and I’m here for it. Of course, Jack’s real game is on social media … where he’s candidly bringing his vision to his voters using TikTok, Instagram, and all the wonders that digital media has to offer.
Jack’s tag line of “Believe in Something Again” sparks in me the concept of dharma which is the idea that each of us has a greater purpose in life. There’s this sense that each of us has the opportunity to tune into our personal dharma and to lead our lives from that place of purpose.
The concept of dharma appears in Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Sikhism and other religions, but regardless of your personal faith we each have the opportunity to tap into our dharma.
If you feel as though you’re still seeking to understand your dharma, take a beat to tune into what makes you unique; what unique qualities only you can bring into a conversation; and the things that light you up and get you inspired. Think about people who might inspire you like female astronaut Christina Koch or political contender Jack Schlossberg (aka John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg) and then consider how you might inspire others.
Don’t just sit back and coast through your life experience. Remember, you’re responsible for your dharma. So get engaged. Find your purpose. And make things happen.
Maybe just maybe you’ll believe in something again, too.
